The Polish Business & Science Climate Platform (PBSCP) brings together academics institutes and progressive Polish and multinational companies supporting the transition to a low carbon economy.
Since its formation in 2013, the Platform’s voice and impact in support of decarbonisation in Poland has grown. It focuses on knowledge exchange with national and local government officials through bilaterals, high-level roundtables, and recommendations to EU and Polish policymakers.
2014 saw renewed activity within the Platform and the main events organised or co-ordinated by the Platform were:
- Warsaw, 15 May 2014, roundtable: "Energy Security & The 2030 Policy: the Way Forward"
- Warsaw, 12 June 2014, workshop: "Collaborative action towards energy security for Poland: Energy Efficiency in Buildings"
The Platform has also stated its position on decarbonisation and the need for ambition in Poland through recent statements supporting a robust 2030 climate and energy package that sets targets for GHG emissions and builds a climate for growth.
Once the package was adopted, an official letter, dated 31 October 2014, was sent to the Prime Minister of Poland, commending the Polish government for supporting the Council agreement on the EU Energy and Climate package and calling on Polish policymakers to now maximise efforts to drive down emissions, encourage low carbon investment and enhance energy security.
