Ulrike Sapiro, Chief Sustainability Officer at Henkel, said:
“Henkel is delighted to join the Corporate Leaders Group Europe as a platform for innovative companies to support sustainable competitiveness in the EU. Henkel is committed to decarbonisation, circularity and equity as we believe that sustainability is crucial for long-term business success. We have made great progress already, but we need to go further, and this requires a systemic change, supported by strong policy frameworks and stable institutions. We look forward to working with CLG Europe to shape a sustainable future for business in Europe.”
Henkel recently strengthened its climate strategy with new science-based targets verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company has committed to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% and Scope 3 emissions by 30% by 2030, from a 2021 baseline, and to achieve a 90% reduction in absolute emissions across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2045. Henkel’s roadmap covers all major operational activities and value chain emissions, including those from raw materials, packaging and logistics.
This new partnership demonstrates how leading European businesses are integrating sustainability into their strategy, enhancing resilience, and contributing to the development of a climate-neutral and competitive European economy.
