Corporate Leaders Groups

Business leadership for a climate neutral economy

The Prince of Wales's Corporate Leaders Group (CLG) was established in 2005 following on from a speech by then UK Prime Minister Tony Blair calling for a stronger leadership voice from business on climate change.¹  When it was founded, under the leadership of the former HRH The Prince of Wales, it helped reshape the consensus amongst the UK business community in support of climate action and sat at the core of a growing community of business action in Europe and around the world.

Today, CISL convenes two business groups under the banner of the Corporate Leaders Groups. The CLG, which is UK-focused, offers business leadership insight to help shape the UK response to the climate crisis, while its sister group, CLG Europe is a cross-sectoral Europe-focused group, which defines and leads the business response at the European level to the climate crisis. Convened by the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), the Corporate Leaders Groups’ members are leaders from cross-cutting sectors including infrastructure, the built environment, manufacturing, consumer goods and services, media, finance and energy production.

The timeline below shows some of the key milestones achieved by the Corporate Leaders Groups over the years.
