Welcome to the Corporate Leaders Groups’ COP27 Hub. This hub contains event recordings, photos, articles, interviews and other CLG UK and CLG Europe material published ahead of, during or following COP27. |
Building on a set of business and policy engagement activities, alongside a broader CISL delegation, the Corporate Leaders Groups (CLGs) attended the COP27 conference in Sharm El Sheikh in November 2022 to deliver the voice and support of business leaders. The CLGs engaged on ensuring higher international ambition, highlighting the need to phase out fossil fuels, step up climate finance, as well as support efforts to establish a funding mechanism for loss and damage, and showcased business commitment to limit the global temperature rise to 1.5C.
Over the two weeks, CLG Europe and CLG UK hosted a series of discussions and high-level events on business and policy leadership issues to draw on best practice and mobilise concrete action to step up short-term climate implementation and achieve net zero. Issues explored included the energy transition, national business climate advocacy and the circular economy. In the preparation and implementation process, we collaborated with the We Mean Business Coalition, key policy makers, various UK, European and international partners as well as member companies of the CLGs.
Despite the historic breakthrough at COP27 on a new fund for loss and damage to support countries most vulnerable to the devastating impacts of climate change, much remains to be done to increase climate ambition and drive action to limit global warming to 1.5C and phase out fossil fuels.
