Business leadership for a climate neutral economy

8 September 2022 - Leading aluminium and energy company Hydro has joined the European Corporate Leaders Group (CLG Europe), convened by the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, in support of a climate neutral economy.

Hydro is committed to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 or earlier and aims to contribute to the creation of a more circular economy by becoming a leading supplier of net zero aluminium and accelerating the production and use of renewable energy. The Norwegian company joins CLG Europe as a full member.

Bjørn Kjetil Maurtizen, Head of Group Sustainability at Hydro said:

“We look forward to join a group of progressive companies under the leadership of CLG Europe, where we can discuss and contribute together to efficient framework conditions for net zero.”

Hydro’s leadership on low-carbon products, aiming at zero emission aluminium, increasing the use of recycled materials and investing in materials is critical to the EU’s climate and energy transition.

Eliot Whittington, Director, CLG Europe said:

“It is a great pleasure to welcome Hydro, a major industrial European business, into the European Corporate Leaders Group. This is further evidence of the growth of the progressive business voice for more ambitious climate action and shows how even in hard-to-abate industries there are proactive and positive voices in support of climate action. We are looking forward to working with Hydro to support ambitious climate policies in Europe and beyond."
