22 April 2022 - Workday has joined the European Corporate Leaders Group (CLG Europe) convened by the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership in support of a climate neutral economy. The enterprise cloud applications provider will join the group as an Affiliate Member.

Workday has set 1.5°C aligned science-based targets and since 2017 the company has committed to provide all its customers—including 2,000 headquartered in Europe—with a carbon-neutral cloud. For the past four years the company has matched 100% of the electricity across global operations with renewable sources.

Erik Hansen, Head of Environmental Sustainability from Workday, said: “Tackling a challenge as important as climate change requires collaboration, which is why Workday is proud to join the European Corporate Leaders Group, a leading cross-sectoral association bringing together businesses in support of a climate neutral economy. We are looking forward to working together with CLG Europe members to advocate for meaningful EU climate policies and promote a decarbonized economy.”

Workday has been active in business networks and advocating for enhanced climate policies, mainly through joint efforts at Business Alliance to Scale Climate Solutions, Business Council on Climate Change, Ceres BICEP Network, Clean Energy Buyers Association, Future of Internet Power, RE100, Silicon Valley Leadership Group, and We Are Still In.

The company’s decision to join the European Corporate Leaders Group is very timely as the EU is accelerating both digital transformation and energy transition.

Eliot Whittington, Director, CLG Europe, said: “We are thrilled to welcome a dynamic and ambitious company like Workday into the European Corporate Leaders Group. We are looking forward to working with them to support strong and coherent climate policies in Europe and beyond.”

CLG Europe has a secretariat provided by the Brussels office of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and a cross-sectoral membership of influential European businesses working towards delivering climate neutrality. Workday joins existing members: ACCIONA, Amazon, Anglian Water, Ball, Cemex, Coca Cola Europacific Partners, DSM, EDF, Eneco, Ferrovial, Hybrit, Iberdrola, Ingka Group, Interface, Lloyds Banking Group, Microsoft, ROCKWOOL, Salesforce, Signify, Sky, Stora Enso, Tesco, Thames Water and Unilever.
