Leading business and investor networks call for ambitious reform of the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive

17 January 2023 - Three leading business, corporate and investor networks focused on climate change – the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) , Corporate Leaders Group (CLG) Europe and Climate Group – came together with over a dozen European business associations and investor networks in a letter to the European Parliament calling for ambitious reform of the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). 10 March 2023, this letter has been shared with all Members of the European Parliament ahead of the plenary vote on 14 March.

30 November 2022 - The European Commission has released the second part of its Circular Economy Package for 2022, the EU’s flagship legislative package that aims to create more sustainable products and materials and enhance circularity. The Taskforce support an ambitious Package, however, calls on policymakers to accelerate action.

CLG Europe rapid reaction to the EU’s Nationally Determined Contribution (2030 Climate Target) increase announcement at COP27

15 November 2022 – In his address to the COP27 plenary, European Commission Executive Vice- President Frans Timmermans announced that the EU stands ready to update its NDC to at least 57% emission reductions by 2030. Vice- President Timmermans also reminded that the EU is committed to taking concrete measures to address the gap in loss and damage, including new funding arrangements.

EU leaders tell Green Growth Summit ‘we are not backtracking’ on climate objectives

12 October 2022 - At the 2022 Green Growth Summit, EU decision makers, including Austrian Minister of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology Leonore Gewessler, German State Secretary Sven Giegold and MEP Pascal Canfin insisted the EU is not slowing or reneguing on its climate objectives in response to the energy crisis.
