Business leadership for a climate neutral economy

April 2021 – SSE plc, a leading generator of renewable electricity in the UK and Ireland and one of the largest electricity network companies in the UK, which has also recently been confirmed as a major partner for COP26 is the latest business to join as an affiliate member The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group (CLG).

Alistair Phillips-Davies, SSE Chief Executive, said:

“We’re very pleased to join the CLG. This commitment comes in what is sure to be a pivotal year in the fight against climate change. As we approach the flagship climate change summit COP26 and pick-up pace in delivering on our own £7.5bn programme of low-carbon investment, which includes the world’s largest offshore wind farm in Dogger Bank and the electricity network to deliver clean green energy to millions of homes and business, it is important that SSE stands together with other leading business to jointly advocate as a clear and powerful voice for greater climate action.”

Eliot Whittington, Director, CLG said:

“We’re pleased to welcome SSE to the Corporate Leaders Group. Their commitment to low-carbon investment, support for COP26 and clear interest in addressing topics like ensuring we have a just transition to a zero-carbon future, makes them a great addition to the group.”
