Business leadership for a climate neutral economy

For immediate release 31 March 2014

Business leaders welcome latest scientific report on climate change as providing clear impetus for action

A new report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability, represents the latest scientific evidence and should therefore spur urgent action by governments, The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group said today.

Members of Corporate Leaders Group include Acciona, Anglian Water, BT, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Doosan, DSM, EDF Energy, GE Lighting, GlaxoSmithKline, Heathrow, Interface, Jaguar Land Rover, Kingfisher, Lloyds Banking Group, Philips, Shell, Skanska, Sky, Tesco, Thames Water and Unilever.

Eliot Whittington, UK Director of The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group said: “The many negative impacts predicted by this authoritative report should make us all sit up and take notice. Climate change is not something that will happen in the future: it is happening now and without urgent action, things will only get worse. Enlightened businesses know this and want support from their governments to prepare for the inevitable impacts of climate change, and to help minimise future disruption and damage. We must act collectively and urgently in the face of this incontrovertible threat.”
