COP23

The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group (CLG) and the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) will be present and active at COP23, where Parties will meet to advance the aims and ambitions of the Paris Agreement and achieve progress on its implementation guidelines.

The 23rd Conference of the Parties (COP23) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will take place in Bonn, Germany, from 6–17 November 2017.

Both CISL and the CLG will be present, to promote swift implementation of the Paris Agreement, facilitate the business–policy dialogue on long-term sustainable strategies, and foster enhanced co-ordination between business and policy leaders from across the world.

Side-event: ‘Long-term, sustainable strategies for ensuring the transition to a net-zero future’.

2050 strategies are crucial for ensuring a sustainable future. The Vasudha Foundation, CISL, CLG and the B-Team will convene business leaders and civil society experts to discuss action being taken in both developed and emerging economies and the benefits of a just transition to a zero-carbon future for both business and society.

This event in open to all with accreditation to the COP23 ‘Bonn Zone’.


 

Side event: Sustainable Innovation Forum 2017

Date: 13–14 November 2017

The Sustainable Innovation Forum 2017 (SIF17), now in its 8th year, facilitates partnerships between businesses, governments, the UN and NGOs to accelerate climate change solutions and bring scale to low carbon innovation. SIF17 is the largest business-focused forum taking place during COP23 and is produced by Climate Action in partnership with UN Environment. CLG Director, Jill Duggan, and Deputy Director, Eliot Whittington, will be attending the event. 


 

High-level event: High-level roundtable on long-term governance

Date: Tuesday 14 November, 15:30–18:00
Status: Closed (by invitation only)

The high-level roundtable meeting will allow CISL to share the results of a survey investigating the private sector perspective on long-term plans and climate governance, and discuss how business and policymakers can work together most effectively to ensure a co-ordinated approach to government climate objectives. The survey has been timed to help inform a number of developments on the EU’s agenda including the proposed Governance Regulation, National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs), and the 2018 ‘global stocktake’ under the Paris Agreement. As well as other Ministers, business leaders will be invited to explain their responses and discuss how business and policymakers can work together most effectively on this agenda.


 

High-level dinner: Future Growth Network dinner

CISL, in partnership with the EU Green Growth Platform and the CLG, will hold a high-level, closed-doors dinner event to connect like-minded policy and business leaders from Europe, Latin America, Asia, and North America to informally discuss enhanced coordination and collaboration to achieve our national ambitions.
