Business leadership for a climate neutral economy

Miguel Aris Canete, EU Commissioner for Climate Change and Energy

26 and 27 January 2017 – Miguel Aris Canete urges the CLG to keep up the good work at its annual strategy meeting in Madrid.

The CLG’s annual strategic meeting, hosted by CLG member Acciona in Madrid saw the group discuss topics including the built environment, circular economy and industrial strategy as they reviewed their strategy for 2017.

Miguel Aris Canete, EU Commissioner for Climate Change and Energy, provided a valuable European policy perspective, thanked the group for its work and urged the CLG to continue to raise the business voice in support of the Paris Agreement.

Other external speakers included Oliver Rapf from BPIE, Maurits Hekking from GBV and Professor Mike Gregory from the University of Cambridge. Member company case studies and experiences on the circular economy were also provided by Philips Lighting, Stora Enso, Coca-Cola European Partners and Ferrovial and the event showcased the innovation centres in Madrid of both Acciona and 3M.

From the opening address by the group’s Chair Philippe Joubert, to the closing remarks by its Director Jill Duggan, the need for the CLG to continue to show business leadership and push for ambitious climate targets remained consistent and well supported by all.
