Corporate Leaders Groups

Business leadership for a climate neutral economy

15 June 2015 – The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group (CLG), EURELECTRIC and IETA call on Commissioner Arias Cañete to move forward with plans to revise the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS).

Joint letter to the Commissioner Arias Canete

The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Group (CLG), EURELECTRIC and IETA have jointly called on Commissioner Arias Cañete to do everything in his power to keep Europe on track for developing a low carbon economy and energy system, by moving forward with plans to revise the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) before the EU Parliament summer break – building on the recent momentum generated by the G7 leaders.

The letter, sent to the Commissioner on Monday 15 June 2015, outlined just how vital it is that the Commission acknowledges the urgency of the reform discussions of the ETS, given that one of the pillars of achieving the deep cuts in greenhouse gas emissions and decarbonisation of the global economy over the course of this century is carbon pricing.

The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Group (CLG), EURELECTRIC and IETA reiterated their commitment to helping the Commissioner achieve a long-lasting legacy of low carbon growth and sustainability, particularly during these critical moments in the run up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris.
