24 October 2014 – In a letter to Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz, The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group (CLG) and members of the Polish Business & Science Climate Platform (led by the CLG) welcomed the EU agreement on the EU Energy and Climate package and commended Poland for its support of the deal.
While recognising that the deal represents a ‘major step forward’, they stressed that it did not far enough and the need to engage in further efforts to drive down emissions, encourage low carbon investment, and enhance energy security in Poland remained.
Members of the Platform and the CLG are committed to working together with Polish policymakers to help them implement the targets at national and local level. A first meeting with the Mayor of Warsaw is scheduled to be held on 2 December 2014, soon to be followed by other high-level events with policymakers in Brussels and Warsaw.
