Business will play a key role in the transition to a net zero economy in the UK and in supporting the COP26 Climate Summit due to take place in Glasgow in November. While nearly 100 major UK businesses are already signed up to the leading Business Ambition for 1.5 commitment and approximately 500 smaller businesses have signed the similarly ambitious SME Climate Commitment, this groundswell of support for the global Race to Zero campaign must grow with many more businesses committing to the emissions reductions required to meet the UK’s climate targets. To support UK business action on climate change, some of the country’s leading business groups are working together with the support of the UK government in a new network, the UK Business Group Alliance for Net Zero (BGA).
This webinar formally launched the BGA and provided an opportunity to hear from the UK government and businesses, including some who had just joined the Race to Zero. Discussions explored UK business leadership on net zero and how business can contribute to the success of COP26.
