13 October 2017 – The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group (CLG) has responded to the launch of the UK Government’s Clean Growth Strategy, welcoming the potential support it could provide to business in the transition to a low carbon economy.

The Clean Growth Strategy sets out how over £2.5 billion will be invested by the Government to support low carbon innovation from 2015 to 2021, including allocations towards business and industry efficiency, carbon capture and storage, low carbon transport, agriculture, and funding to support low carbon innovation.

Jill Duggan, Director of The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group said:

"The launch of the Government’s Clean Growth Strategy is helpful for businesses that need to know the direction and speed of travel in order to invest and grow. However, if the UK wants to regain its leadership position, it needs to lift its aim and set out a realistic pathway for achieving net zero emissions by the middle of the century, in line with its international obligations.”

The Prince of Wales's Corporate Leaders Group (CLG) has been calling for strong policy to support businesses in the transition to a low carbon economy, as highlighted in recent reports on renewable energy and resource efficiency
