21 March 2024 - Over 100 businesses and investors signed a joint letter calling on the EU to set a greenhouse emissions reduction target of at least 90% by 2040. A robust climate target and the decarbonisation of our economies will improve the EU’s resilience to shocks, energy security and competitiveness.

9 December 2023 - 29 Business organisations representing different sectors and different sizes of businesses from SMEs to multinationals have urgently come together during COP28 shared a statement with European policy makers calling for them to support language during the COP negotiations that will set the world economy on a clear path to a tripling of renewable energy by 2030 the doubling of energy efficiency and a fossil fuel phase out.

CLG Europe submits response to European Commission public consultation on EU climate target for 2040

22 June 2023 – CLG Europe has submitted a response to the EU’s public consultation on the 2040 target, calling for a net 90% reduction in GHG emissions (relative to 1990 levels), which includes no more than 8-10% of carbon removals.

17 March 2023 – The European Commission has released the Critical Raw Materials Act, that aims to increase and diversify the EU’s critical raw materials supply, strengthen circularity and support research and innovation.

CDP data shows European businesses are already implementing key elements of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive

19 January 2023 - The European Commission published its proposal for a Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (CSDDD) in February 2022. This critical piece of legislation aims to provide a regulatory framework on corporate sustainability governance. According to CDP’s latest data, more than a third of companies in Europe (37%) report that they have a climate transition plan in place and only 2% of those companies report on all relevant transition plan indicators. CDP defined 8 key elements that constitute a credible climate transition plan . These elements can be identified via disclosure on 24 indicators found in the CDP climate questionnaire.
