High-level Event: Roundtable on Competitiveness Sustainability with a focus upon the role of a circular economy. 21 February 2022

In February, CLG Europe held a roundtable discussion with the European Commission, Member States and business representatives. This discussion focused upon the role of a circular economy, and how this can support our aims in both relieving stresses on our requirements for Raw Materials, whilst also building a sustainable, competitive economy that is fit for meeting the multiple challenges of growth and climate neutrality. This discussion took place ahead of the February Competitivenesss Council.

Business groups affirm support for people of Ukraine and call on EU to accelerate Europe’s green transition to strengthen energy security

7 March 2022 - In an open letter sent as Russian troops continue their offensive in Ukraine, the European Corporate Leaders Group (CLG Europe) and We Mean Business Coalition urge European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to view the Green Deal not only as the de facto growth strategy for the EU, but also at the heart of energy security.

28 February 2022 - CEMEX, the global building materials company focused on cement, ready-mix concrete, aggregates and urbanisation solutions, has joined the Corporate Leaders Group Europe (CLG Europe), convened by the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership in support of a climate neutral economy.

This high-level webinar brought together key players across business, academia, and policymaking to discuss the need for a systematic approach to advancing circular design solutions.

Event: Green Growth Partnership Webinar on the Carbon Pricing, 14 March 2022, 10.30 – 13.00 CET

14 March 2022 - The high-level decision makers from Member States and the European Parliament, leading businesses, researchers, and NGOs came together for the Green Growth Partnership webinar on 14 March and had a fruitful exchange on the role of carbon pricing in the Fit for 55 Package and reducing emissions globally.

26 January 2022 - In an open letter to the EU Internal Market and Justice Commissioners, coordinated by MEP Pascal Canfin, business leaders and CLG Europe call on the EU to seize the opportunity of the upcoming Corporate Sustainability Package to introduce a measure linking environmental objectives to part of company executives’ variable remuneration.
