Corporate Leaders Group Europe (CLG Europe) reaction to finalisation of ETS, CBAM, ETS2 and SCF negotiations

19 December 2022 - Over the weekend, the European institutions reached a provisional agreement on the key files under the Fit for 55 Package. CLG Europe comments that the agreed climate legislation of the Fit for 55 Package is critical to decarbonising European industry and giving clear policy direction to the economy.

30 November 2022 - The European Commission has released the second part of its Circular Economy Package for 2022, the EU’s flagship legislative package that aims to create more sustainable products and materials and enhance circularity. The Taskforce support an ambitious Package, however, calls on policymakers to accelerate action.

15 November 2022 – In his address to the COP27 plenary, European Commission Executive Vice- President Frans Timmermans announced that the EU stands ready to update its NDC to at least 57% emission reductions by 2030. Vice- President Timmermans also reminded that the EU is committed to taking concrete measures to address the gap in loss and damage, including new funding arrangements.

12 October 2022 - At the 2022 Green Growth Summit, EU decision makers, including Austrian Minister of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology Leonore Gewessler, German State Secretary Sven Giegold and MEP Pascal Canfin insisted the EU is not slowing or reneguing on its climate objectives in response to the energy crisis.

21 September 2022 - UK CEOs of businesses and finance institutions, including Amazon, the Co-op, Signify, Zurich Insurance, Coca-Cola, Bupa, IKEA, Siemens, BNP Paribas, Sky and Aviva, are calling on Prime Minister Liz Truss to build economic resilience through delivery of net zero emissions and restoring nature.
